Pyrometer BP17

Infrared thermometer for non-contact surface temperature measurement

PRECISE MEASURING RESULTS AT THE PUSH OF A BUTTON

No matter whether in the commercial or hobby sector - the control of the surface temperature of electrical appliances, motors, cooling systems, or walls is an important matter with regard to functionality or energy efficiency. By regularly measuring the temperature, major damage, and expensive renovation work can often be avoided in advance. Since you do not need to touch surfaces that may be too hot or cold, always play it safe when measuring with infrared radiation.
The BP17 pyrometer is a reliable and precise surface thermometer. Its infrared sensor provides you with exact measurement results within a wide temperature range from -50 °C to +380 °C. You can set a reference temperature in advance and have any deviations displayed with both visual and acoustic alarms. When setting the tolerance range, you can choose between 1 °C, 3 °C, and 5 °C. In order to ensure that you are actually measuring the current temperature of the measured material and not a value from the environment, the BP17 pyrometer is equipped with a laser sighting device that displays the center of the measuring spot (optical resolution 10:1). Please note that the measuring spot, i.e. the area in which temperature values are recorded, increases with increasing distance.
The large, backlit display guarantees an excellent view of the measured values even in poor lighting conditions, and the modern ergonomic pistol design ensures comfortable and fatigue-free handling. Practical: The battery-powered measuring device switches off automatically when not in use, thus reducing its already low power consumption. With the practical belt pouch, you can carry the pyrometer comfortably and always handy on your body.

Versatile application possibilities

A pyrometer can be used to control the heating of permanently running electrical appliances. As a measurement result is available within seconds, temperature measurements can also be carried out on moving objects without any problems. When it comes to energy saving, you can also obtain valuable information by checking windows, exterior walls and ceilings for their thermal insulation properties. Other applications include monitoring the engine and tire temperatures of cars and motorcycles, checking the operation of underfloor heating systems or simply measuring the temperature of baby bottles or wine bottles. And in combination with a hygrometer to determine the humidity of the air, you can quickly find out whether and where there are cold corners in your four walls where there is an increased risk of falling below the dew point and thus of mold formation due to condensation.

OPTICAL AND ACOUSTIC SIGNALS

If you want to check certain measured values regularly, you can select a reference temperature in advance and set tolerance limits of 1 °C, 3 °C or 5 °C. If the measured temperature value lies outside the limit corridor, this is indicated by a colored display and an acoustic signal.

Green for tolerance value

You have specified a reference value of 25 °C and set a threshold value of 1 °C. If the measured surface temperature is between 24 °C and 26 °C - i.e. within the tolerance range - the display lights up green.

Blue for underrun

The reference value is preset to 20 °C and the selected tolerance limit is +/- 3 °C. So if the measured temperature was between 17 °C and 23 °C, everything would be fine. However, if the measured value is below 17 °C, the display will light up blue and you will also hear a signal at long intervals.

Red when exceeded

The reference value is 30 °C and the sensitivity level is 5 °C. Thus, a measured temperature between 25 °C and 35 °C is within the tolerance range. If, however, the surface temperature of the measured material is above the maximum value of 35 °C, the display lights up red and an acoustic signal sounds at short intervals.
With the BP17, you can see directly at all times whether your specified temperature range is being maintained without having to pay attention to the exact values.

Advantages for the practice:

  • Non-contact surface temperature measurement from -50 °C to +380 °C
  • Acoustic and visual alarm when a pre selectable temperature difference is exceeded or undershot
  • Adjustable sensitivity levels: OFF / 1 °C / 3 °C / 5 °C
  • Measuring optics 10:1
  • Switchable optical aiming laser
