• STIHL ElastoStart™ - The ElastoStart™ starter handle is an exclusive STIHL feature. It is a starter handle with a built-in shock absorber that helps reduce effort and make starting easier. ElastoStart™ noticeably reduces the sudden peak forces (compression) that are usually felt when starting. The forces that occur after the first compression stroke when pressing are eliminated.
• Ematic™ Oiling System - The Ematic™ cutting blade, when used with a STIHL OILOMATIC® chain, provides proper lubrication and uses less oil than conventional methods. The system works because two strategically placed ramps on the cutting blade help maintain the oil flow and direct oil to the guide bar and chain, as well as to the chain’s attachment points, which in turn reduces oil consumption by up to 50%.
• STIHL Quickstop® - STIHL chainsaws are equipped with a chain-stop system designed to reduce the risk of injury in certain impact situations. It is called the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake. The STIHL Quickstop® chain brake is designed to stop the chain rotation when activated by the operator's hand or by inertia if the saw is kicked back with sufficient force. In some working positions, the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake can be activated by inertia, stopping the chain in fractions of a second.

• HD2 Air Filter - The HD2 air filter is washable on this unit, providing extremely long filter life and reducing maintenance costs. The large surface area allows for longer cleaning times and high performance even in dusty and dry conditions. Overall, the HD2 air filter provides better engine protection than standard air filters.

• IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor - The IntelliCarb™ compensating carburetor is designed to automatically adjust the air/fuel ratio when the air filter becomes restricted or partially blocked, maintaining the correct engine RPM. IntelliCarb™ uses air from the clean side of the air filter to control the diaphragm and fuel flow. When the air filter becomes dirty and less air is available to the carburetor, the IntelliCarb™ system adjusts the fuel flow to compensate for the reduced air flow. This is different from typical carburetors that use this air from the “dirty” side of the airbox.

• Efficient Stop Switch Technology - Efficient stop switch technology saves the user time and reduces the chance of engine flooding during startup.

• Easy manual adjustment of carburetor settings - The simplified carburetor design allows for easy manual adjustment.

• Anti-Vibration System - STIHL has developed a system to reduce the vibration level of handheld outdoor power tools. The STIHL Anti-Vibration System helps reduce operator fatigue and provides a more comfortable working experience.
• Master Control Lever™ - The Master Control Lever™ is an easy-to-use control lever that operates the choke, start throttle lockout, and on-off switch. The operator must pull up on the throttle trigger before moving the lever to the choke position.
• Tool-free fuel and oil caps with retainers - simply lift the lever and twist the caps to remove or tighten. No need to use a tool to tighten or loosen.
• Decompression valve - is part of the easy start system. The valve should be pressed before starting to reduce the compression pressure during starting, as well as  to reduce the effort required for the cranking rope.
• Side chain tensioner - This feature makes it much more convenient for the user to adjust the chain with a bar end wrench.
